Card Creation Contest!
March 23, 2022 @ 8:00 am - April 5, 2022 @ 5:00 pm
A new contest opens!
This one will be centered on card creation. You will create custom cards for the game, and submit them for judging. The best submissions will receive rewards! The theme for this contest will be: Seeds of Heresy
The game focuses on the titanic battles and great feats that took place during the Horus Heresy. But this leaves a period unexplored: the Great Crusade, and the first signs of the nightmare to come. Thus, the theme will be everything that came before the Isstvan III massacre, be it the expansion of the Imperium, the preparations in progress by nefarious forces, the Legions in their prime, or anything else you may think of.
The rewards will be as follows:
– 1st place: 1500 gold
– 2nd place: 1000 gold
– 3rd place: 500 gold
The contest will end on April 5th.
How to participate?
Join the official Horus Heresy Legions server, and send a direct message to Alder Godric, with your card(s) attached. There is a piece of software freely available to create cards (though you can do it in other ways if you want); links to it are pinned in the card-ideas channel of the discord.
What is allowed, what is forbidden?
– Cards will have to fit into one of the game’s existing factions (including neutrals). Keep in mind that this can have a fairly loose definition, as with the Monster of Pythos included in the Chaos faction.
– No custom traits (a trait being things like Courage, Terror…). If you want to include an effect not already in the game, write it in text directly.
– There is a limit of 3 cards per participant. Any card you make counts towards this limit (even special cards and Whispers). Any collectable cards you create will be judged separately (for example, if you submitted Wrathe, Wrathe’s Berserkers would be judged separately as well).
How will the winner be decided?
A series of judges will rate the submission in 5 categories, and the total will be that judge’s grade. Grades will be averaged, giving the card a final rating. The card with the highest rating wins.
The categories are:
Mechanics: 10 points
Lore: 10 points
Balance: 10 points
Aesthetics (how well the card fits into the game): 10 points
Judge’s choice (bonus points awarded as the judge wishes): 5 points
