For millennia, Mars served the Imperium with unwavering devotion. Logic dictated that would be the optimal path towards new discoveries, but the fires of the Horus Heresy reforged this unanimous logic into a binary decision. Casting aside their allegiance to the Imperium and embracing the Warmaster’s promise, a splinter of the Mechanicum embraced the forbidden. Melding metal and blasphemous knowledge they sought a higher truth, and unleashed their twisted creations in their search for true enlightenment.
The Dark Mechanicum joins Warhammer The Horus Heresy: Legions as a new faction in the Crusade expansion, unleashing corrupted machinery and exploiting technology beyond mortal comprehension! The new faction becomes collectable on the 27th of November around 12 pm UTC, featuring nightmarish new art, twisted new mechanics and the ability to command some of the most iconic Daemon Engines in battle for the first time.
New Mechanics
Many cards of the Dark Mechanicum demmand a sacrifice from you: discarding cards. A small price to pay for ultimate knowledge! Plus, many of their units are equipped to scavenge a benefit from this additional cost. Units with Nekrotek will trigger an effect when you discard a card.
The Dark Mechanicum will also deploy their new engines, exploiting the Networked Anima to strengthen their bond. When a troop with Networked Anima is directly targeted by a friendly Tactic, adjacent units will also be targeted by it. Keep in mind that this ability will only have an effect if the tactic actually targets. It’s time to unleash your malevolent abominations onto the battlefield!
Dark Mechanicum warlords
The forges of the Dark Mechanicum are ruled by ambitious visionaries, unbridled genius giving way to new creations unrestricted by the conventional. Three of these tech-heretics will lead their corrupted hosts into the fray:
- Archmagos Melkiades: Stationed on Molech, he mastered the science of slaughter while fighting alongside the knights of House Devine.
- Archmagos Draykavac: Willing to sacrifice everything in the name of knowledge, he seeks access to long forbidden technologies.
- Anacharis Scoria: Cast down and imprisoned, he took advantage of the Xana Incursion to retake control of his Forge World.

There are many ways to collect Dark Mechanicum cards, especially during the first weeks after their release! Take a look at them:
