“I am Alpharius”

– Alpharius?

Hydra Dominatus

Obscurity begets opportunity. Enveloped in a shroud of lies and forgeries, the Alpha Legion has been infiltrating every corner of the Galaxy even before the Horus Heresy was conceived. Their eyes and hands are everywhere, and they are ready to unfold their plan! The Alpha Legion enters the game as the last new Legion of the Hidden Dagger expansion, featuring fresh new artwork and a new collection full of intriguing strategies and schemes.

Get ready to infiltrate behind enemy lines and quell their efforts from the inside. Awaken your sleeper agents, set up your traps in the enemy’s quarter and overwhelm your enemies by striking on all fronts at the same time! The heads of the hydra are ready and in position.

The Serpent uncoils

When the galaxy is focused on settling gruesome quarrels on the battlefields, subtlety thrives. Unveiling their allegiance with the Warmaster on Isstvan V, the Alpha Legion was far better prepared for the intricacies of the Horus Heresy than any other of their brother Legions. Their agents spread far and wide across the Galaxy, in position to report on the state of both side’s forces and to take down defensive systems at a planetary level for a swift victory.

However, only a select and curated amount of information made its way to the Warmaster’s ears. Were they ever loyal to Horus? What is the Alpha Legion‘s true objective? Enshrouded in secrecy, ever since the Heresy was unveiled, Alpharius and his scions have waged their own beneath the shadows. They are now ready to strike, but their enemies will only be aware they are being attacked when their defensive systems fall right before their eyes.

Alpha Legion Warlords

Many Alpha Legion agents commanded the legion’s secret missions during the Heresy, but among them, three of their mightiest heroes were chosen to lead the Legion into battle in the game:

  • Armillus Dynat: A formidable strategist with a penchant for unorthodox and highly intricate attack plans.
  • Exodus: An expert marksman, he ranks amongst the most skilled killers outside of the Officio Assassinorum.
  • Alpharius: Like a hydra, Alpharius commands his Legion to fight by unleashing repeated attacks from unexpected quarters.

Disrupt the enemy’s plan

The Alpha Legion‘s characteristic mechanics will be familiar to the most veteran Warhammer Horus Heresy: Legions players. Traps and Secret Orders are so intertwined with the Legion’s playstyle and identity that it wouldn’t be an Alpha Legion collection without these elements. There is, however, one significant change. With the release of the renewed Alpha Legion collection, Secret Orders will now be able to target any troop.

The Alpha Legion counts with two special types of Tactics in their arsenal: Traps and Secret Orders. Traps are placed inside your enemy’s deck and will trigger an effect when they are drawn. Effects that might at first seem beneficial to the enemy, such as making them draw cards, may not be as welcome once they wall into the hydra’s maw.

Their other special Tactics, Secret Orders, target troops already on the battlefield. These troops have been Alpha Legion infiltrated agents all along, without their commander ever suspecting a thing. These Secret Orders will activate once a condition is met, such as the enemy playing a troop or the turn ending, and will trigger a disrupting effect. It is up to the enemy to try to divine which Secret Order they think was played, and try to play around it.
