The Ultramarines update their arsenal in the new balance update!

Lured far away from the Imperium by the Warmaster right before the start of the Heresy, the Ultramarines haven’t stopped fighting against every enemy imaginable (and unimaginable) since the beginning of the betrayal. After fending off every obstacle the traitors have thrown at them, and having broken free of the Ruinstorm, the Sons of Guilliman finally head to Terra with renewed strength and purpose.

Meanwhile, battle rages in the capital world of the Imperium, and the Thousand Sons’ focus is more razor-sharp than ever. How will this affect the future of the Imperium?

This update brings big changes to the Ultramarines, focusing on improving the impact of their troops and the viability of some of their tactics. The Thousand Sons receive a fine-tuning of their previous rework that should improve their capacity to generate psychic energy. Check out all the changes:

Ultramarines

  • Bellarius Squad: Changed description to “Rally: Deal 1 damage to a random enemy troop. Courage: Deal 1 additional damage”
  • Scipio Bike Squadron: Changed description to “Courage: Deal 1 damage to all enemies”
  • Cossos Squad: Changed description to “Courage: Deal 3 damage to a random enemy in Stealth”
  • Ingenuus Squad: Changed description to “Rally: Deal 2 damage to an enemy or heal 2 to a friendly unit”
  • Captain Alcaeus: Lowered cost of ability from 2 to 0
  • Apothecary Theon: Changed stats from 3/5 to 3/6 and description to “Resolution: Heal 2 to two random friendly units”
  • Honour Guard: Changed stats from 4/5 to 5/5
  • Captain Corvo: Changed stats from 5/5 to 6/5
  • Stillus Veterans: Changed description to “Courage and Battle Honour: Create a random Practical in your hand”
  • Ancient Krato: Gain “Courage: Gain +1/+1”
  • Captain Mysander: Changed passive ability to “Give +1/0 to adjacent units instead of troops”
  • Steloc Aethon: Changed description to “Courage: Destroy the enemy troop with highest Attack”
  • Retribution Strike: Changed description to “Deal 2 damage. Courage: Draw a card”
  • Relentless Pursuit: Lower cost from 2 to 1
  • Interlocking Tactics: Change description to “Draw 2 cards. Courage: A random enemy with Stealth loses it”
  • Mantle of Ultramar: Change description to “Give your Warlord: “Resolution: Give +1/+1 to adjacent troops”
  • Lords of Ultramar: Change cost to 4 and description to “Give +1/+1 to Ultramarines troops in your hand and deck”
  • Wrath in Betrayal: Lower cost from 7 to 6

Thousand Sons 

  • Prades Squad: Changed stats to 2/3 and description to: “Psyker 2. Rally: Gain Precognition until your next turn”
  • Amunis Squad: Change description to “Unstoppable. Rally: Gain 2p”
  • Penthu Daast: Increase Psyker from 1 to 2
  • Hidden One: Gain Psyker 2, and ability now costs normal Energy instead of Psychic Energy
  • Ahriman’s Cabal: Changed stats from 5/6 to 6/6 and description to “Psyker 3. Rally: Gain Precognition until your next turn (1) Gain 4 Psychic Energy”
  • City of Light: Lowered cost from 3 to 2
  • Flesh Change: Gain ‘Draw a card’

Salamanders

  • Hope: Changed description to “Draw a troop from your deck. It costs 2 less.”
  • Resilience: Increased cost from 4 to 5

Iron Hands

  • The Hammer: Increased cost from 8 to 9

Defenders of Caliban

  • Luther (Arch-betrayer): Changed ability to “(2) Take control of an enemy troop with 5 or less remaining Health”

Imperial Army

  • Lucretia Elunnirai: Cost reduction now applies only to Infantry troops

Mechanicum

  • Forbidden Protocols: No longer includes Blood Thirst among the random effects it can grant to Vehicles

Chaos

  • Khorne’s Favour: Changed description to ‘Your warlord gains +1/0 and Blood Thirst until your next turn’
