“May our futures fly beyond this battle.”
– Sanguinius, Primarch of the Blood Angels
In the constant flow of galactic warfare, nothing ever stays the same for long. Alliances change, loyalties waver and now, the game evolves too. Today, a new way to experience timed events arrives to Horus Heresy: Legions, Draft events. Let’s take a closer look.
What is a draft?
Drafting is a popular game mode in many different card games, and now is a fresh new alternative when playing Horus Heresy: Legions. In a draft, your deck is not predetermined, but made on the spot before playing any games. When you start an event run, you will be given multiple card packs to choose from until you build the deck you will use in this run. If you don’t have a big collection, don’t worry, because this game mode is independent of it.
What is an Event?
Events are time-limited scenarios based on battles from The Horus Heresy where at least two factions are competing to add exclusive content to the game. Participating in an Event requires at least one Ticket.
If you are part of a Lodge, winning Event games will add Lodge Points to a pool all members can fill up to unlock a better communal reward at the end of the Event. Only Lodge members who contribute points to the Lodge total for a given event will receive the Lodge reward for that event.
Winning Event games also contributes Faction Points to unlock a mutually exclusive Faction reward at the end of every Event. It’s your chance to influence the course of the whole game!
How does it work?
To start an event run, you will need at least one ticket. You can pay your entry fee with one ticket or opt to start a ten ticket event run. Starting a ten ticket event run will multiply all rewards and points earned during the run by ten.
After paying the entry fee, you will be given a choice between four of the Warlords that are fighting in the event. More than four Warlords will be available in any event, but at the start of each run you will only be able to select one of four possible choices. Of the offered Warlords, two will always support the Loyalist side and the other two will always support the Traitor side.
Once you have selected your Warlord, you will start building your deck. One at a time, you will choose ten packs of three cards each that will make up your deck. In every choice, you will be able to select one of three packs that are being offered, each one with its own theme and synergies.
If at any point you don’t like the packs you’re offered, you have the option to reroll them and see if you get ones that you like more. Every reroll costs gems, but keep in mind that every time it is used in the same choice, the cost of rerolling again will increase until you choose a pack.
The packs offered in a choice also have rarities. They can be Common, Bronze or Gold. All packs offered in the same choice will have the same rarity, so get ready for some tough tactical decisions!
The first and last choice of packs you include in your deck are guaranteed to be Bronze. Please note that the reroll button makes a full reroll, independent of the rarity of the pack that you were being offered. If you reroll a Gold pack choice, you are not guaranteed to get another one with your reroll.
Now you’re ready to play in the new draft events! Join a Lodge, choose a Warlord, build the best deck that you can and fight to decide the game’s future! Your actions directly impact the content that will be added to the game at the end of every event, so choose wisely. Good luck on the battlefield!
