Consider the greater picture.Lion El’Jonson
The time of the Great Crusade and Horus Heresy was one of manpower and speed of recruitment. Inducting new warriors into the Legions was paramount, and veteran warriors often took new Astartes under their wing to quickly bring them up to speed, rather than having dedicated aspirant squads or companies that were developed after the Heresy. Freshly inducted Astartes would be put under the harsh gaze of a grizzled battle-brother in an effort to fast-track their training, and allow his experience to rub off on the neophytes.
The Mentor System
Any player at level 25 or above is eligible to become a Mentor, and only players below level 25 can become Recruits. Each Mentor can have up to 3 players at a time as their Recruits.
When a Recruit reaches certain milestones, as described below, the Mentor earns a reward. When they reach level 25, they ‘graduate’ and can go on to become Mentors, while their Mentor can take on a new Recruit.
The milestones for Recruits are:
- Unlock the epic boss in a single-player campaign.
- Win 5 event games in a single event run.
- Gain a ranked game above 1,000 rating.
- Login 7 consecutive days.
- Reach level 25.
Helping your Recruits
A Mentor will be able to communicate with their Recruits via a new chat, similar to how it is done in Lodges. The Mentor will be able to share deck codes and review replays directly through the chat, and use it to help Recruits understand the different aspects of the game and hone their skills so that they can complete the milestones.
As encouragement, Mentors can make gifts of 100 gems to a Recruit, up to a maximum of 1,000 gems over the lifetime of each Recruit. Moreover, Recruits will receive a 20% experience boost while under a Mentor. On the other hand, Mentors will receive a gold reward whenever one of their Recruits completes a milestone.
When a Recruit reaches level 25 and graduates, both the Mentor and Recruit will receive an additional reward if the Recruit managed to complete all milestones.
This is just one of several new features in the upcoming update on 17th March! Stay tuned for more news on the 4th Anniversary update, watch the teaser on Youtube and discuss the news with other players on social media.
