The Horus Heresy unfolds! We’re proud to announce that the next major content expansion for Legions, Shadow of the Warmaster, is to be released on 16th February. Get ready for the biggest update ever, with over 200 new cards joining the collection, completely new features and a major revamp of many of the game’s systems!
With this massive content expansion and feature update, the game enters an entirely new era, including a major rebranding. Enter Warhammer Horus Heresy: Legions and get immersed in one of the most exciting conflicts in the Warhammer 40.000 storyline! It’s Space Marine against Space Marine, brother against brother, so pick your side wisely and step on the battlefield!
Born in loyalty, in Chaos reforged
The forces of the Warmaster close in on Terra, with the Sons of Horus, World Eaters, Death Guard and Emperor’s Children at the vanguard. Changed after years of contact with the Ruinous Powers, the wayward sons of the Emperor return to humanity’s cradle. They would have once been received as heroes, but this time they arrive as daemonic conquerors, intent on destroying the Emperor’s dream.
The Shadow of the Warmaster will begin with the release of the Sons of Horus, boasting a completely new collection of cards with fresh faction mechanics and identity, as well as fantastic original art. Horus Lupercal, Abaddon and Horus Aximand will lead the new Sons of Horus into battle, and you have never seen them like this before. Some of these Warlords have been collectable in the past, but the expansion brings a completely new take on the Warmaster and the members of his trusted Mournival.
A host of new Imperial Army and Chaos cards will also join the game at the same time as the Sons of Horus on 16th February. This first release will be followed by the Emperor’s Children, the Death Guard, World Eaters and the remaining neutral cards shortly after, in timed intervals.
A completely new experience
Along with the new cards, one of the major systems that are being updated is the first contact the players have with the game: the tutorial. On the day of the expansion’s release, the current tutorial mini-campaign will be replaced by a fresh new series of story-driven battles; perfect for newcomers to learn how to play, or for any player looking for a refresher on the basic mechanics of the game. All players will also get two entire decks featuring many of the new cards, stay tuned for more details!
One of the largest changes in the Shadow of the Warmaster expansion will be updating player progression via the introduction of a new battle-pass system. Every month, players will gain access to a Battle Pass reward track. Play games and complete missions to earn points and advance through the track and earn amazing rewards, including cards, in-game currency and exclusive themed cosmetics!
There’s a lot more to this feature so stay tuned for more details, but for now, we can announce the first-ever Battle Pass will begin at the same time as the expansion. It will be themed around the Sons of Horus and will provide players with a fantastic way to start collecting cards and cosmetics for the Warmaster’s own Legion. In addition, players will gain a lot of agency in the cards they get from the reward track. If they select their preferred faction, they will be getting many more cards from that faction in their rewards to build their ideal decks faster than ever!
There are many other changes that will be making their way into the game during the expansion! Among others, the general aesthetic, UI, storefront, and chat windows will also be getting a big revamp to give the game a fresher look and feel.

Get ready to learn all about the new Sons of Horus with your favourite content creators! Starting on 12th February and until 15th February you will be getting your first glimpses of the new Sons of Horus Warlords, troops and tactics.
