January is over, and the first season of 2025 leads the way to a new year full of exciting battles in Warhammer The Horus Heresy: Legions! Before plunging into the new ranked season, let’s take a look at the numbers from the last month of competitive play in Low Terra (rating 2500-3800) and High Terra (rating 3800+). A new Warmaster has taken the title, and if you want to be the next in line, read on to find out what you are more likely to face on the battlefield. In the end, information is lifeblood in a Galaxy full of threats.

Low Terra
Low Terra’s top five warlords present a strong mix of Warlords that have managed to consistently ascend in the ranks for a few seasons. Erud Vahn becomes the Low Terra champion this month, followed by Kor Phaeron and his “protégé”, Lorgar. Interestingly, both Word Bearers Warlords have achieved the same stats, but they cannot be complacent, as they are followed very closely by two more Primarchs, Magnus and Curze.
This season the Warlord picks have been spread out very evenly in Low Terra. However, a couple of the lower-picked warlords stand out quite a bit, especially Lucretia Elunnirai who does not make it into the top 5 despite an incredibly strong season. How strong? Just wait a bit to find out. Leman Russ and Perturabo have also achieved a very high win rate, as well as other rogue-ish picks like Kroeger and Hvarl Redblade. It seems the hunt has been bountiful for both Iron Warriors and Space Wolves this season.

High Terra
Lucretia has risen to the challenge, her duty to protect Prospero pushing her to the very top of High Terra with a massive win rate. Following her, Lorgar and Curze maintain a very respectable performance. Sevatar extends his Legion’s success this month with a great win rate, but if he ever dares return to the Nostramo system, he might just find himself caught in Nerat Kirine’s trap.
Outside the top five ranks, there have been some less popular but VERY strong performers. Pretty much any Ultramarine has fought at an advantage this month, with most of them achieving over a 60% win rate. Lord of the Flies and the Infernus Abomination have also taken over the battlefield with great performances from some of Chaos’ favourites. Lastly, one Salamander stands out tailing the ranks, as Forgefather T’kell reaps a 61% win rate during the first season of 2025.

The meta has started to settle, and ever since last month’s balance changes we have seen a shift in how the Blackshields have performed. As always, we are monitoring the situation to avoid another Warlord taking the rank by storm. A balance update is coming next week, so stay tuned for more details! Meanwhile, a new competitive season has just begun. Have you built a new deck for the new season? Which Warlords and factions will you champion in your next battle?
