The Raven Guard signals the ambush

“On wings of shadow, we will find deliverance.”

– Corvus Corax

Lead the Raven Guard into the fray

Arriving on the battlefields under the cover of dark, the Raven Guard launches its ambush against the betrayers to the Imperium on Isstvan V. Corvus Corax leads his Legion as they join the game to close the new arrivals of the Dropsite Massacre expansion on Friday, August 18th.

Shadow-walk behind enemy lines and attack from unseen angles! Get ready to master the stealthy tactics of the Raven Guard and deliver true justice upon your enemies. Will you take command of the shadowy protectors of Mankind and cleave the lines of the Emperor’s misguided son?

The Raven Guard on Isstvan V

Silent and shrouded by the dark, Corax and his Legion were experts in effecting covert operations, rather than working on the open battlefields. Even though out of their element, the resolute sons of Kiavahr stood tall on Isstvan V ready to give their all on the battlefield. They were to take down the right-most side of the rebel forces, and so initiated a savage assault by land and air, taking down traitor tactical points one by one.

Though effective, their open assaults also took a heavy toll on their numbers, and they were surrounded by enemy forces. The Raven Guard would break their chains as they did on their homeworld, organizing a series of strike and fade assaults to break free from their captors and rejoin their brothers in battle. Noticing the World Eaters heading towards loyalist lines, it’s now up to them to put an end Angron’s massive charge and clip the Red Angel’s wings.

Raven Guard warlords

The shrouded heroes of the Raven Guard fought valiantly on Isstvan V and among them, three great warriors will be leading the XIXth Legion’s forces in the new expansion:

  • Pious Vex: Expert marksman of the Mor Deythan, who helped carve a retreat path for his Legion at Isstvan V.
  • Branne Nev: A hero of Isstvan V whose intervention saved the lives of many of his battle-brothers at the Dropsite Massacre.
  • Corvus Corax: One of the Primarch brothers and master of the Raven Guard. A master of stealth and rapid strikes, Corax led his Legion with unparalleled precision and guile.

Strike and fade: new Ambush trait

Representing the Raven Guard’s mastery of the shadows, they are gaining a new trait in this expansion: AMBUSH. Any unit with Ambush will trigger this ability if they lose Stealth during their controller’s turn. The most common way to trigger Ambushes will be at the start of the next turn, when units lose their Stealth organically, but attacking with these units during the same turn they’re played (giving them fast or flank, for example) will also trigger their ambushes.

Among the tactical repertoire of the Raven Guard, you will also find many ways to give Stealth to friendly units. If an Ambush unit gains stealth again while on the battlefield, they will gain another opportunity to trigger their Ambush effects. Strike and fade, and don’t give the enemy a chance to defend!
